And a bonus celebration party for finally being caught up, these are some of the pics that our sweet friend Samantha took this fall. She is wonderful and patient and did a great job of catching the personality of our kids on film.

February 2011

Weird, this could be the "we're all caught up" post. So, February has been CRAZY!We started with 2 big snowstorms on back to back weeks. The university cancelled classes for most of the 2 weeks so we go to enjoy some extra daddy time which is always nice. It was not a sticky snow so we played in it but it was pretty difficult to build with it until the sun came back out and warmed things up a bit. Then we made a snow fort and snow kitty. Livi wanted to make a snow kitty and it was supposed to be Simon but the bottom ball got too big too fast so it turned into a Chloe snow kitty instead. She really had a good time making it but was more than excited to come in and drink hot chocolate too.

Our playgroup made a trip the fire station and watched teh firemen all decked out in their outfits, got to climb in the trucks, and even see them slide down the pole. They did a really job explaining some basic fire safety stuff to the kids (30 kids uner the age of 5 is a pretty big deal).

Grammy and Grandad managed to wiggle in a visit right before snow storm 2 hit which meant we got snowed in with Grammy. We wore her out playing in the snow and keeping her busy 24 hours a day (okay, only 12 because we do still need sleep) reading, playing kitty and hospital, and coloring.

We also had 2 valentine's parties. 1 was playgroup and 1 was preschool. We learned that living in NW Arkansas has its drawbacks in that it means we'll have to learn to say goodbye to some good friends because jobs move mommies and daddies in and out of here sometimes faster than we'd like.

Finally, we implemented a real schedule...like the kind that is written down for the whole day. We're okay with it being disrupted occassionally when we have something else to do or mommy is toooooo tired but for the most part, it's been really great in cutting down on whining and asking to watch movies a billion times a day. We have gymnastics time, book time, clean up time, craft time, outside time, and preschool time very day. It's lovely!

january 2011

At least we're in the correct year now :)
At the beginning of January, we learned to start preparing for a baby sister Olivia is super excited. With that came the buying of bunk (or bonk in our house) beds and moving Livi and Malachi into the same room. That took getting rid of a lot of toys. Livi was a trooper though and did a great job deciding which toys they played with and which ones they didn't.
January brought our first snow and it was not a big one but Livi was so excited when he woke up that we had to make snowmen and play. There was just enough to scrape together 2 tiny snowmen and it cleared the diveway nicely.
January also brought yet another ER trip for Malachi. He found a tin-punch out pack of sudafed and Livi thought it was gum so thought nothing of feeding him a few. So, he got to drink charcoal again and wait in the ER hooked up to monitoring equipment before we were sent home with no ill effects, thankfully. The only picture we have is the one when we got home and threw the kids in the bathtub to try and wash away the charcoal and loosen the "stickers" from all the monitors. Those things are super sticky.
We had some international friends come over for lunch and had a great time learning about their countries and playing games with them.
Other than that, we spent lots of time playing games, running in circles, chasing the kitties, and kicking hanging out in our warm house instead of the frigid outside.

From Grammy

Livi got to be an angel in the christmas eve program. She did a great job being cute and dressing up. Malachi didn't want to do it so he sat with us and sang instead.
We did make it to NE this year to visit great grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins. And, of course, let us not forget petting horses, chasing cows, and opening even more presents.

from Annie

Sara and Livi really are such good buddies when they get together. They talked Baba into taking them shopping so they could have matching jammies because that (apparnently) is what you're supposed to do when you're best friends. They had some sleepovers ad played with kitties together a massive amount of time. Baba's poor baby kitties were probably ready for us to go home a loooong time before we lef.

December catch up

Someday, I will not be 3 months behind on our family..somday. December brought Christmas tree decorating, lots of traveling to visit friends and family, more presents than we can squish into our little house, lots of sugar, an accidenal haircut for Livi, plenty of of spoiling time, and fun....you know, the normal December stuff. The camera, once again, somehow got left behind so we have some pre-christmas pictures and then we get to steal some from Annie and Grammy for the rest. Malachi had been asking for a baby who cries for Christmas. He got one and he hasn't played with it since it came home. We have an army of Zhu Zhu pets, and lots of books and movies added to our collection. Malachi's vocabulary exploded over December and he's now a little easier to understand and funnier than ever. Livi was in desperate need of a schedule by the end of traveling. Too much tv time is a REALLY bad thing for her.
